Conservatives in Capilano and North Van- couver-Burnaby are con- vinced that they’ll hold both a seats when a writ is finally dropped. IN JUNE. Liberals, meanwhile, are confident that they have a good shot at winning both ridings and while the NDP aren’t expressing much hope for the up-scale Capilano riding, they’re confident of their chances in North Vancouver-Burnaby. The North Shore scene: CAPILANO RIDING Liberals in Capilano have set their sights high in their search for a candidate. While Conservatives in the riding are in the middle of a three-way race to find a replacement for sitting MP Ron Huntington, Liberal constituency association president Brian Bayham says his party is still hoping for John Turner as candidate. There has been specula- tion that Turner would seek a seat in the west — ‘‘If he is going to run in the west this is one of the two or three ridings he is considering,’’ Baynham says — but that speculation has been largely discounted. Ilona Campagnolo, the National Liberal party president, has also been asked to run in Capilano and is, according to Baynham, considering Capilano, North Vancouver-Burnaby or Vancouver-Kingsway. If Turner settles for a seat in Ontano and Campagnolo gocs clsewhere, the Capilano Liberals have others they have been talking to about the nomination. Baynham said none of them are yet willing to be publicly iden. ufied. No date has yet been set for nomination meeting The Conservatives, who now hold the Capilano riding and are cager to keep uw, will meet Wednesday FLIGHTS COURTESY OF CR AIR ltl AIRD OF PARADISE More Free Irips to Hawaii.
