Spoon River Anthology comes to Argyle Secondary School Argyle’s Theatre students will present a dramatization of Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology as its spring production for 1980. The Anthology. first published in 1915, consists of a senes of monologues by 244 former inhabitants of Spoon River, Itlnois, where Masters spent much of his boyhood. Each monologue 1s an epitaph unflinchingly revealing the doomed dreams, the secret cruelties, the bitter frustrations and the domestic hatreds of these former inhabitants.
