THE Horseshoe Bay
Boathouse is out of
drydock. And a fine
new vessel it is.

After undergoing a rwvo-
month refit, champagne was
broken across its bow on
April 7 in an inaugural service
voyage with a host of invited
guests aboard.

Gone is the early Keg-era
heavy wood and dark corners
that have been in place since
1981. On deck now is a 160-
stat place of wide open
spaces, natural light, river
rock curves and sweeping
Howe Sound views.

Ic is the prototype look the
Spectra Group of Great
‘Restaurants has mapped out
for 2st century Boathouses.
A few minor adjustments
aside, I’d say it’s an inspired
prototype by any measure.

His chatlenges in
Horseshoe Bay were different
from those in West
Vancouver’s far east.

place.

Lots of heavy immobile
wood means lots of creative
work-arounds.

And that he has done.
