National Wildlife week
celebrates 50th year

to Halifax, from Deep
Cove to Dawson City,
Canadians will once
again go all out to help
wildlife and <elebrate its
tremendous significance
through various events
and activities during
National Wildlife Week
(April 6 to 12).

The theme for National
Wildlife Week is ecological sus-
tainabilicy. This year is the 50th
anniversary oof = National
Wildlife Week commemerat-
ing the birchdate of the late
Jack Miner. one of the great
founders of Canada’s conser-
vation mavement.

Federation (CWF) has chosen
“Wild Things Necd a Place to

Nanonal Wildlife Week, CWE
dismbures an educaponal kit

thousands of schoois across the
county. Habitar 2000 is a
wildlife habiter improvement
program for young peaple. To
date, close to 170,000 voung
people have taken part in the
Habirar 2600 progiam. Ie
allows schools to apply for
funding to finance projects
that will improve habitat for
wildlife by the year 2000.
Grants of up to $200 are
available per class to purchase
the raw materials and tools
aeeded for a Huabitar 2000
