WITH spring’ round of fashion shows
in tull swing, Capilano Golf and Country
Club scores big, asa popular and stylish
setting for showcasing the season's top
fashion trends. West Vancouver
Montessori School recently held its third
annual spring gala luncheon and fashion
show at the club. The sold-out event fea-
tured an informal showing of women’s
fashions fron Wear Else? in Park Royal's
south mall and children’s fashions from
Angels on Bellevue. The event raised
more than $5,000 for the school, which
will use the finds to upgrade its
preschoot and kindergarten facilities.
West Vancouver Montessori: School is
located at 370 Mathers Ave.

revealing anecdote my uncle told me about
his long ago brush with a kilt.

During the Second World War, my uncle
and father were in the Black Watch, the leg-
endary Highlander regiment based in
Perth.

As part of their uniform, soldiers wore,
with pride, the Black Watch tartan,

My uncle tells me that when the fads
would marshall for a night on the cown,
each would have to pass ander the sobering
glare of a stem staff sergeant who would
give them the once over — 2 once over
which included standing on a mirror, legs
astride, so the sergeant could make sure
vou were in regulation garb.

All in all, the kilt is the perfect solution
to men’s formal wear: it never goes ont of
fashion, it is comfortable in the warm and
the cool (ask the Jadies about that one),
and if anvene gives vou some stick abour
wearing a skirt with a purse around your
waist, vou’ve got a dagger in your right
sock,
