Member charges
WV School Board
with irresponsibility

School Board was blasted
Monday for not providing
necded day care at a West
Vancouver elementary
school.

Board member Margot Furk
charged that the school board
acted irresponsibly by failing to
agree to provide a day-care trailer
at Ridgeview Elementary School ta
absorb the local day-care demand.

“All we have to do is agree to
spend $10,000 this year instead of
next year,’” Margot Furk told the
board Monday.

Furk said at the least the board
should have made a decision so the
affected parents can plan for the
coming year.

Furk said it amazes her that the
federal government has decided to
spend 36 billion for day care, even
though it is in debt, while the
municipality and school board of
West Vancouver, which are not in
debt, cannot find $5,000 for a ser-
vice area residents require.
