First a note to all of you
who have written me about
the possible tour to Europe
and the Middle East in
September. If we have 50
definites, all systems are

“go .

One big agency called
right away, and said, “‘If you
havent’t got an agent, can we
give you a hand?’’ Sure.
They will try to come up with

some price quotes fairly .

soon. The nice part of this
agency is that they are cross-
Canada so-that readers in
Alberta and Ontario will get
an even break.

Here’s a quick break-down
on the plans to date. I know
what I'd like to see, but
anything can happen with
bookings, costs and you-
name-it. Better we don’t get
too boxed in on definite
schedules.

I want to see us get to
Venice by the smoothest, and
best flight available. Hepe-
fully, with a stop-over so we
can gear down a bit before
we arrive at -the ship
(September 22). Just let me
work on that a bit, but think
September- 19 or 20 as
get-away day.

Fourteen days on the
Costa Lines’ Daphne, into all
those exotic ports shouldn’t
be too hard to take. The ship
will take care of any optional
tours we want to take for a
decent fee. The Daphne is
their newest acquisition but
Costa has one standard for
all their fleet: strictly Euro-

- pean, so be prepared.

Everything will, I hope, be
geared to Europeans and not
to North Americans. No
sense going to Europe, etc.,
and end up with everything
the same as down-town
Moose Jaw. ‘

On the morning of October
sixth, we will return to
Venice. I'm hoping to get us
a hotel right beside the
Piazza San Marco, where all
the action is. I'll look after
the tours there myself.

You will get a chance to
walk your feet off and pay
your own admission to
anyplace we go. I'm not
much of a shopper, but
have found a few places with
super values-can't remember
the names but I sure can find
them again. | mistrust local
‘our guides in this repect
they get a sales commission
on anything you buy. Damned

One night, I'm kidnapping
my husband for a moonlight
tide on aie gondola. By
ourselves! October isn’t
exactly the ‘“‘high season’’
for gondola paddlers so we
should be able to get a cut
rate. You should, if you feel
the urge, be able to do the
same thing.
