Filter pierced the ciga-
rette smoke-infested
Pacific Coliseum as I
made my way into the
recent White Zombie
show.

Thousands of pierced,
tattooed sweating bodies
were crammed into the
seemingly much smaller
Coliseum Concert Bowl. The
many people confined to
seats did not stay seated for
very long either.

the live sounds of Filter, as

* the band sounded even better

“than they did on their album.

seemed to agree,

... Filter’s new album,: ‘Short

musical theatrics are some-
thing that shouldn't be taken
too seriously — after all, it's
just a show.

The loud obnoxious
power of the band's music is
something you can feel in
every part of your body,
although the live vocals of
Rob Zombie could use some
improvement.

White Zombie's talent, in _

my opinion, lessens with
their live performance. Their
strength seems to live in

_ their recordings.

White Zombie has five
albums, two of which are
unknown by most fans:
Psycho Head Blowout from
1986 and Soul Crusher from
1987 are very hard to find.
Their first well-known
album, Let Them Die Slowly
(1989), is not something
many are too impressed

- with. They definitely did

improve with their 1992

‘release La Sexorcisto: Devil
~ Music Vol. 1.
This is what | consider to
-be their best album. But ;

what has really put them
imto the mainstream is their
most recent album, Astro

_ Creep: 2000, which was out

album seems to appeal toa
more diverse audience and is
even listened to by people of
very contrasting musical
tastes.

Although White Zombie's
live performance was not as
good as expected by many.
to me, it was something not
to be missed. Filter played
with unexpected power and
the show took off. It turned
out to be a good experience.
