GST MEETING

NORTH VANCOUVER MP
Chuck Cook has organized an in-
formation session concerning
small businesses and the federal
government's Goods and Services
Tax (GST) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel.

Speaking at the meeting will be

counting firm of Coopers and
Lybrand and Frank .Quo Vadis cf
the law firm Boughton, Peterson,
Yang and Anderson.

Cook said Colhoun and Quo
Vadis will provide a comprehen-
sive overview of the legal and ac-
counting requirements of the GST

WEST VANCOUVER resident
Donua Benson, program co-or-
dinator of Going Green on the
North Shore, will be the guest
speaker at Tuesday’s breakfast
meeting of the West Vancouver
Chamber of Commerce.

minister responsible for the B.C.
Ferry Corp.

The plans include the addition
of an upper car deck, which will
be increased so that it can ac-
commodate recreational vehicles.
The new deck will add 155 spaces
to the vessel’s current capacity of
192.

The re-engining of the vessel
will allow it to service the Georgia
Strait routes in the 90-minute
travel time of the major vesseis.

TRUST SOLD

CANADA TRUST and Montreal
Trust have signed an agreement
that will result in Canada Trust
acquiring Montreal Trust’s resi-
dential real estate brokerage
operations in B.C., Ontario and
Manitoba.

John Sehucht, executive vice-
president of property investments
and real estate services for Canada
Trust, said the company has been
making plans for its real estate
operations for over a year.

“This acquisition fits perfectly
with our strategic plan to build
and enhance our real estate
branch network in major markets
where Canada Trust has a signifi-
cant retail banking presence,”’ said
Schucht.

He added that Canada Trust is
looking for ‘‘increased synergy’*
between its real estate and finan-
cial services networks.

“The decision to sell the real
estate brokerage operation outside
of Quebec is consistent with the
company’s Strategic policy to con-
centrate its efforts and resources
in the markets best suited to meet
its profit margin objectives,’’ said
