Three injured in
ambulance crash

TWO NORTH Vancouver-based ambulance attendants and the
3i-year-old driver of a pickup truck suffered injuries following a
collision Friday.

The crash occurred at thz intersection of Jones Avenue and 19th
Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. Preliminary investigation by
North Vancouver RCMP shows the ambulance was driving at the
posted speed limit when the driver of the pickup truck allegedly
turned in front of the ambulance at the intersection.

A spokesperson for the North Vancouver unit of the Provincial
Ambulance Service said the ambulance driver had no time to
4 brake. The ambulance attendants suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Said unit chief Tim Jones: ‘If the guys hadn't of been wearing
sent belts, one guy would probably have been crushed by the steer-

ing wheel and the other guy would have gone through the window. |

It was a solid hit. The ambulance spun around 180 degrees.”

‘spider man’

WEST VANCOUVER Police were called in to apprehend a spider
man crawling the wall of the Villa Marris highrise apartment com-
plex at 22nd Street and Bellevue Avenue at approximately 4 a.m.
Jan. 19.

A police spokesperson said {be man was climbing the building in
ap attempt to catch his ex-girlfriend in bed with a lover.

But police say there was insufficient evidence to charge the man.
The suspect was transferred to Vancouver to answer to a warrant
of falling to appeer ia court on an impaired driving charge.

NV man jailed
for theft

A 24-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced Friday in
North Vanconver provincial court to 14 days ia jail after he was
found gullty of theft under $1,000.

Andrew Leo Natrail was originally charged in connection with 2
Sept. 19, 1988 incident in which a ledy’s puzse was stoten.

Man jailed for
sex assaults

A 41-YEAR-OLD Sechelt man was sentenced Jan. 18 in North -

Vancouver provincial court to six months in jail and placed on
probation for two years after he was found guilty on three sexual
essanit charges.

The man, whose name cancot be published because it could lead
to the identity of the victims, was originally charged in counection
with incidents in January and November 1987 in which two females
were assaulted.

A VANCOUVER man was recent-
ly sentenced in West Vancouver
provincial court for driving while
prohibited.

West Vancouver Police pulled
over a vehicle driven with expired
plates Nov. 14.

The driver, 38-year-old Wajciech
Zakiewich, presented the police
officer with a Polish driver's
licence.

Zakiewich was sentenced to 21
days jail and lost his licence privi-
leges for one year.
