24 - Sunday, September 21, Sports 1986 - North Shore News COLLEGE SOCCER Cap Blues battle to win CAPILANO COLLEGE'S Blues soccer team Kicked off its 1986-87 season with a second place finish in the Pacific Coast Challenge Cup (PCCC) played Sept. 12 to 14 in Santa Rosa, California. The Blues, who won both the Totem College Athletic Associa- tion and the Pacific Coast Soccer League titles in 1985, opened the eight-team competition with a 3-1 victory over South California's Oxnard College. Centre forward Paul Zen, 20, opened the scoring for the Blues. Fred Torres, another Blues centre forward, and fullback Tan Hay, both 19, rounded out the scoring for the local team. In the team's second match, the Bives blanked <’ashington State champion Bellevue College 1-0. Zen scored the lone Blues goal in the last five minutes of the game. In third round action, Santa Rosa College was held scoreless by the Cap College squad. Torres scored his second goal of the tournament to give the Blues a 1-0 victory and put his team into the finals against defending cham- pion Foothill College on Sept. 14.
