or treaters who will be visiting Thursday evening. The La Torres’ house is well-known for its annual Halloween decorations,
which neighbors and tourists enjoy.

When it comes to Hallow-
een, the couple has tapped a
direct ling into the super-
natural, dressing themselves,
their house and their yard in
true goblin and ghoul style.

The La Torres say decora-
ting their yard is a tradition
for them, as they have been
doing it for years.

“We do it out of love,"
Anne-Marie says. ‘‘We've
always loved Halloween, and
so do our kids.”’

Some of the special effects
the couple creates is a
cemetary in the front yard
with grave stones, a 15-foot
spider made of fur, wire,
plastic and North Shore
News newspapers, a spider’s
web stretched across the
front of the house, a coffin
with an arm hanging out,
Jack Pumpkin’s head from
the Return to Oz, a mummy
and ghosts.

Marie also gets in the Hal-
loween spirt at school, dec-
orating the classroom and
coming to school in
costume. But Anne-Marie
says her students get a great
kick out of coming to see her
house.

Asked if the trick or
treaters are filled with terror
when they come to the house
Halloween evening, Anne-
Marie says no, because they
are always welcomed.

“They love coming. And
they're really glad when
someone answers the door. I
always dress as a witch and
my husband dresses as
Dracula. We give a warm
welcome, and we offer cof-
fee to the adults.”*
