He’s a resi- dent of the West End oat Vancouver who wound up running here because of the Libertarian’s decision to field as complete a slate of candidates as possible. He was convinced to seek office, he says, ‘‘because 1 found a lot of the political things that were going down to be so outrageous I couldn't wait any longer.’’ Specific planks im the Libertarian platform as far as Clarke 1s concerned are the need for a strong defense policy, a simplificanon of taxation and an end to gov- ernment-imposed morality. “*L beheve in a very strone defense effort agains: the Eastern bloc counties, who are a verv dangerous group,’’ Ciarke says. ‘'‘The only way to defend ourselves ‘s 10 Maintain a strong miuli- lary."' His proposal for tax law is to change to a flat income tax rate of kO per cent witha $10,000 personal exemption per taxpayer.
