A generation ago, Jose’s
three children were students
at the small elementary
school on Mathers Avenue.

Now, with her children
grown and in college, she is
back there again, this time as
**Mom’”’ to the children at-
tending the out-of-school
care program, which began
February 1.

“*lt feels wonderful to be
back — it’s like coming
home,’’ Jose says. *‘I always
liked coming into this school,
there was such a friendly feel-
ing about it, and that hasn’t
changed a bit.’’

Now she hopes to make the
atmosphere in the bright and
cheery converted art room
“‘as warm, relaxed and home-
like as possible.’ a

no set routine and plenty of
choice of activities.’’

‘ordinator of the new daycare program at Ridgeview
School in West Vancouver.

It was set up with the pur-
pose of providing out-of-
school care, particularly im-
portant to the parents of
children in the half-day
kindergarten year.

But it is open to any
children in the community
from kindergarten to grade
six and if space is available
will also provide emergency
daycare on a drop-in basis.
Hours of operation are from
7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The program costs approx-
imately $2. an-hour — less if
the child is registered, and the
fee.also varies according with
the age of the child.
