Prepare for traffic delays

THE FOLLOWING are the
scheduled road closures and
detours for the coming week in
North Vancouver District and City
and West Vancouver District.
NORTH VANCOUVER
DISTRICT:

DOLLARTON HIGHWAY
RECONSTRUCTIEIN:

Road reconstruction is in progress
with minor daytime traffic delays.
Single-lane traffic with flag control
may occur during non-peak travel
times. It is recommended motorists
use Mount Sesmour Parkway as
an alternatc route.

MOUNT SEYMOUR PARKWAY
(MOUNT SEYMOUR ROAD TO
BROCKTON CRESCENT):
Construction of right turn lane and
acceleration lane for one block east
ef Roche Point Drive. Minor
delays may be encountered by per-
sons accessing the golf course
parking lot.

realize extra profits by introducing
residential units to the commercial
district.

Robert Burgers, architect for the
Marine Drive proposal, came up
against similar public objections,
although council members were
delighted with the project's inter-
esting design.

While one of the buildings the
proposed structure is to replace is
on the heritage inventory, Burgers
submitted that the 1926 Ambleside
Drugs structure was aot only in
poor shape and beyond repair, but
of little architectural value.

But at the urging of the Heritage
Advisory Committee, Burgers
changed his original modern design
to something he felt would be
more in keeping with Ambleside’s
village atmosphere.

His three-storey design also of-
fers more public space: 33 per cent
on the main floor, 37 per cent on
the second floor and 58 per cent on
the third floor.

Although Ald. Rod Day was
sufficiently satisfied with Burgers’
design to want to vote on the de-
velopment permit application, the
