The chase ended in East Vancouver when a man slaramed a stolen car inte a street barrier at 25th Avenue and Kamloops. The incident began when a witness recorded the heence plate of a burglar’s car that sped away at 2:30 p.m. trem a home in the 2000-black of Hyannis Drive in the Rlucridge area. The car, a white Chrysler Dynasty, had been stolen in Surrey that day. North Vancouver Mounties caught up with the car on the Second Narrows Bridge. Police say the driver appeared to be pulling over, but then sped away, Av chases ensued with Vancouver City Police officers assisting local Mounties. The suspected burglar bolted after he crashed the stolen car into the East Vancouver street barrier, The man was caught: and bitten by a Vancouver City Tolive dog. The suspect “received treatment for those (dog bite) injuries,” according to the North Vancouver RCMP. Police say stolen property trom the Hyannis Drive home was found in the car. Howard Sofomon O'Soup, 22, of Burnaby, appeared in North Vancouver provincial court on Wednesday. He was charged with bur- glary and two counts of pos- sessing: stolen property. Police sav he faces more charges of dangerous dusving and causing a police pursuit. O’Soup was remanded in custody until his next court date on Jan. 12 0 fix a date for trial. — Anna Marte D’Anaelo found in NV home A resident who noticed a neighbour’s back door open on Jan. 2 led to the police discovery of a marijuana grow-op in a house in the 200-block of West 5th Street. North Vancouver RCMP were called as a back door appeared to have been left open and no one was at home. Police entered through an unlocked kitchen door and smelled an “overwhelming” marijuana odour. About 25 marijuana plants were seized.
