REVITALIZATION STEERING COMMITTEE Pd eff AE PTC SE TERE LENS Norgate NORTH VANCOUVER District Council was recently taken by sus- prise when what was anticipated to be a ‘routine’? public hearing on the proposed Tatlow/MacGowan redevelopment in Norgate turned into a lengthy and argumentative meeting. “We do not normally schedule a public hearing on an issue that we expect to be contentious for the summer holiday months,”’ said Mayor Marilyn Baker as council decided to adjourn the hearing. Despite a process that director of development R.E. Plunkett described as ‘‘the most extensive series of public meetings, public participation and public interest of anything that I have seen in the years that | have planned for,” a petition representing 523 residents of Norgate opposed to the redevelopment was presented to council by Mark Moseley, legal counsel retained by the Concerned Norgate Residents Committee.
