Shore vol NORTH VANCOUVER'S Red Cross honored the in- dividuals and corporations who have volunteered excep- tional amounts of blood, sweat and tears to make 1986 another successful year for the local branch. During its April annual general meeting, the North Vancouver Red Cross handed out 1! community service awards, 1! volunteer ser- vice badges, 11 certificates of long service and 17 donor awards. Bob Brown, who was elected for his third term as president of the North Vancouver branch at the meeting, said the awards are pres- ented to companies and individuals who have provided distinguished dedication to the Red Cross and its various services in both short and long-term categories. By TIMOTHY RENSHAW News Reporter In 1986, the North Vancouver Red Cross recorded 34 clinic days, 23 of which were held in Lions Gate Hospital. A total of 7,167 units of blood were collected in 1986. The monthly North Van- couver average was 482 units. The clinics were manned by 116 volunteers who invested a total of 7,167 hours in helping operate those clinics. In all, volunteers gave 12,114 unteers hours of service to the community through the Red Cross. The 1986 total represents 1,833 hours over 1985's total. North Vancouver ranked fourth overall in B.C. in the number of units collected. Receiving Red Cross community service awards were BC Rail, Capilano College, Capilano Community Services Society, Capilano Mall, ICBC, the Kiwanis Foundation, Lions Gate Hospital, Lynn Valley Centre, North Van- couver District and City fire departments and Shaw Cable. ICBC was also awarded the Capt.
