Looking back on the season to date, Wurtele said it has been “most unusual.’? He said the big disappointments were cancellations of three major races at Garmish (no snow), St. Anton (too much snow) and Wengen (a blizzard). INTERRUPTIONS “The cancellations put a damper on everything’, said Wurtele. “The thing that suffered the most was the constant interruptions in training. You just didn’: know from one day to the next if you were even going to get on skis.”” Wurtele said the team is looking forward to the downhill races at Aspen (March 8) and the Molson Warld Downhill and Super Giant Slalom. “Our guys will be skiing on home turf and mentally it will be a big pick-me-up. The two Molson Races, coming as they do at the end of the season, will be good for everyone. Already the guys are talking about the Whistler races and how much they’re looking forward to them.’’ : Wurtele said that despite the fact : Canada hasn’t had the kind of results experienced in the past, he’s extremely pleased with many of his skiers. TOP TEN Canada has only had two top 10 finishes to date this season - Felix Belezyk of Castlegar was fourth in a make-up race at Kitzbuehl and Rob Boyd of Whistler finished 10th at Val Gardena. The two finishes were individual bests. Wurtele also said he was impressed with Ottawa's Scott Shaver who started 69th in Schladming and finished 21st overall. Wurtele feels that part of the secret for the improvement among the younger skiers has been putting them on the Europa Cup circuit and then bringing them up for selected World Cup races. - **T think it can only help and will for make them strong contenders in the future.’’ Wurtele said he expects 13-14 skiers to represent Canada at the Molson World Downhill at Broo a World Cup downhiller, re-injured his right knee during a training run at Kitzbuehl fast month and returned home for therapy. The first training run for the Molson World Downhill will be held on Wednesday, March 12. “READY TO FINISH § WOOD FURNITURE 6 Drawer Mr. &Mirs.Chest . $79.95 4 Drawer Chest .
