Mazepa was the grand prize win-

ner in the seventh annual Original

Great Garbage Can Art Contest,

held at Granville Island on Sept,
ys

Mazepa won $200 in prize
money for the winning creation, a
futuristic sea creature fashioned
from a garbage can.

Other winners of this year’s con-
test include John Egan and Chris
Lax, Judy McDonald, and Rob
Haacke.

All of the artists’ work will be on
display at. the Granville Island In-
formation Centre, Prospective art
buyers can bid for their favorite
“mastercan”. at the Great Gar-
bage Can Art Auction and Trash
Bash, Friday, Oct. 29 at Perfor-
mance Works on Granville Island.
