However, there are many ways to remain healthy, and even become more active as we age. On the Norch Shore, our municipal recreation depart- ments have many programs that are suitable for seniors. * The Lonsdale Recreation Centre in North Vancouver has a variety of activities for older people of all fitness levels and abilities. Special sessions for people with arthritis, heart disease or joint replacement are ongo- ing. In addition, a number of swimming options are available. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8 to 9 a.m., an aquacise class exercises to music in the pool. This group includes people from their 60s through to their 90s. + If you prefer early swim- ming, the pool is open from :30 a.m. on, and seniors get a special rate if they want to swim during non-peak periods.
