But the popular destination store didn’t get very far, relocating merely a block away. Specializing in consignment and new clothes, toys and books, the store is now bigger and better. “We're trving to get miore things in and keep it fresh,” said co- owner Maureen Houston. Manning the store when the owners are away is 17-vear-okd for- mer Seyeove student Miaki Hara who had an inside track to the posi- tion. “Tlove it — the talking to peo- ple, the experience and the kids,” said Hara. Cove finance It was about a year ago. that Bernie Geiss made what he calls a “litestyle decision.” Geiss, a financial planner with a downtown-based > firm, decided to leave the fast pace ~ behind. “The whole thing we wy to get across is that we've brought down- town experience to Deep Cove,” said Geiss. He may have left the financial epicentre of Vancouver, but his approach to investing has not changed. Following a formula established by US. investment guru Warren Buffett, Geiss keeps things simple.
