MLS sales
slip in
summer

THE NUMBER of
homes sold through
MLS continued to drop
during the month of July
reflecting the annual
trend of stower sales
activity during the sum-
mer months, However,
the value of sales for
this year-to-date is up
6% to $6.1 billion from
$5.8 billion last year,
and the number of units
sold is up 1%,

The average price of
a home in July was
$313,578 reflecting a
slight decline from
June's average of
$314,684, but an
increase of 9% over the
July 1993 average price
of $286,247,
