20 - Sunday, February 16, 1992 - North Shore News BUSINESS Older, less sophisticated computers are swapped A NORTH Shore computer retailer and consultant has ini- tiated weekend swap meets for computer users hoping to sell or purchase used equipment. Gary Hee is holding the swap and shop sessicns Saturday and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 202-1760 Marine Dr. in West Vancouver. “The purpose is to recycle old computers. If they can display them, maybe someone would want to buy something less sophisticated,’’ Hee said. Hee said that many of the per- sonal computers bought during the first wave of home-computing technology simply sit abandoned in homes. He has visions of peo- ple throwing computer hardware away — as is often the fate of old television sets. “‘They end up in rivers,’’ he said. The swap session offers a chance for people to sell and upgrade to newer and faster systems. Buyers can obtain basic systems at basic prices.
