As the summer was coming to a
close, I joined the crowds at
Ambleside.

I sat on the grass and watched
the many groups of secondary
students playing volleyball and
hackysack. A typical day in the
sun with games and food and
tunes and talk.

Pleasant — until the sun cooled
and the crowds slowly disap-
peared,.. leaving dehind silence,
long shadows, und huge rings of
litter. It was sickening. It looked
like UFOs had landed just long
“enough to put out the garbage.

It made me angry and very,
very sad. I know some youth care,
but I want the majority to.

I dow’t want to: hand the re-
sponsibility to the youth only. It
belongs to me and to every indi-
vidual. on this planet.. What I
wanted from the youth is hope.
