LAS TAPAS RESTAURANTE, 131 WEST ESPLANADE, NORTH VANCOUVER Continuing post-Expo 86 realignment in the loca! restaurant scene has dispatched another Lower Lonsdale eatery to the res- taurant deep freeze. Las Tapas was one of the first of a new and revitalizing wave of res- taurants that washed up on the North Shore in the late '70s and permanently changed the face of what was a largely staid restaurant scene. The Spanish tapas and sangria bar expired in the shadow of the Lonsdale Quay development and increasingly intense area competi- tion for local dining dollars. The Lonsdale Avenue restaurant will help fill the large Mexican cu- linary void left on the North Shore with the close of Cisco’s, the Mex- icana’s predecessor. An initial perusal of Fiesta’s menu revealed a wide array of authentic Mexican cuisine. Ap- petizers range from $4 to $7, while entrees range from $7 to $11.
