$280,000 in marijuana and

Since the Crimestoppers
Tips Line began in early
January over 1,400 calls have
resulted in 42 arrests and
$45,000 in recovered stolen
property.

In North Vanceuver, a
January operation saw 78
pounds of marijuana worth
about $160,000 seized and
two charges laid. In late
February, a further $120,000
worth of marijuana was
seized and six arrests were
made, Harkema said.

Crimestoppers officials
claim a Burnaby murder was
solved after a Crime of the
Week reenactment and in
another case, two people
were charged in connection
with a New Westminster
homocide.

Crimestoppers figures in-
dicate two arrests for bank
robbery, several charges of
theft over $200, the return of
industrial machinery and
electronic equipment and the
return of approximately
$20,000 in recovered
jewellery and merchandise.
