Dogs learn News tricks

NORTH SHORE News
**Force’’ quick pitch team ex-
tended their winning streak
to four straight making their
record § to one with a 12 to
10 victory over the Diamond
Dogs (WEA Records) Tues-
day night.

The Dogs got off to a slow
start letting the News build
up leads of 9 to one and 12 to
three, before coming back to
score six unanswered runs in
the bottom of the 7th inning,
and one more in the bottom
of the 8th. But with the tying

runs at first and second, t
Dogs final batter popped out
to the News right fielder
Diane Materi to end the
game.

The News was once again
anchored by the strong pit-
ching of Blair Cooke-Dallin,
and some great fielding by
Garry Crossley in centre. But
the best performance of the
night for the News was put in
by Ron Hopkins on third
base.

with a single and a triple col-

teams winning a game. The
first had to be one of the best
defensive games of the year
with the Warriors winning
the game in the bottom of the

match, also a defensive strug-
gle C-Fox came through to
win it seven to three. The
warriors also had an exciting

game against BCTV. The
Warriors jumped into a quick
seven-nil lead. BCTV then
came back to take the lead 14
to seven, but the Warriors
weren’t finished yet, as they
came back to beat BCTV 31
to 15.

The News plays two games
back to back Tues. June 19 at
Jonathon Rogers (7th and
Columbia) against the Write
Sox, and on Wed. June 20 at
Churchill School (57th and
Heather) against the Sun.

Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
