Hiker injured . A WEST Vancouver woman suffered a broken ankle on Sunday, Aug. 29, after she fell while hiking in Lyna Headwaters Regional Park in North Vancouver District. ' Ross Peierson, coordinator of the North and West “Vancouver Emergency Program, said Inge Dehler was hiking in the park at 2:30 p.m. about nine kilometres ' (5.6 mifes) north of the park's entrance, The North Vancouver RCMP were notified about the accident af 5:20 p.m., and the North Shore Rescue team was called to the scene at 5:33 p.m. . “Rescue volunicers with medical gene and a stretcher were flown by helicopter inte the park and rescuers * reached Mrs. Debler by 7:30,"" said Peterson. He added that the victim was treated by two B.C. Ambuiance Service paramedics, who ere also North Shore Rescue team volunteers. “It was a very long night. We had hoped to get her out by helicopter, but then we ran out of availanle daytight,"’ ssid Peterson. He added that it took rescue crews about eight hours to carry Dehler out of the park. The rescue party reached | .the park entrance at about 4 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30. Debler was then transported by ambulance to Lions . Gate Hospital.
