Jenkins, centre, and Park Royal director Rick Amantea have teamed up to encourage visitors to the shopping centre to lock their cars. LOCK IT OR LOSE IT Campaign focussing on thefts from autos THE WEST Vancouver Police Department has em- barked on its 1993 Lock It Or Lose It campaign, aimed at reducing incidents of thefts from autos. The campaign, which was launched on Thursday, Nov. 25, will run until Sunday, Dec. 5. The police, in conjunction with the Insurance Corp. of B.C., will focus this year’s campaign on shopping centre parkades in West Vancouver. Const. Jamie Gibsui said police investigated 982 reports of thefts from autos from Jan. | to Oct. 31 of this year. “We are hoping to invoke the assistance of the community in cutting down the number of thefts from autos by removing the op- portunity. The director of Park Royal, Rick Amantea and _ his chief security officer, Bernie Smith, are taking a pro-active ap- proach to the prevention of thefts from autos,’ said Gibson. He added that Park Royal Shopping Centre security guards patrol the parking arcades of the malt year-round and have posted signs reminding visitors to the mall to lock it or lose it. “The message is quite simple. Close your windows, lock your doors and put all valuables in the trunk,’* said Gibson. 10:30 .a.m.,. 1. p.m., 3:30- ROA THE FOLLOWING are the scheduled road closures and detours for the coming week North Vancouver District, City, West Vancoyver District and along area highways. @ North Vancouver District: Redwood St., Sowden St., Philip Aves: Roadwork under way.
