CHILDBEARING COUPLES

I was disappointed to read in the
North Share News that Lions Gate
Hospital has rejected the proposed
midwifery pilot — project.
again we hear of some physicians
putting their wishes ahead of the
needs and desires of their clients.

Dr. McTaggart i is quoted as say-
ing ‘that some doctors are concern-
ed that midwifery would cut into

the “nicest part of the GPs' prac-

tices" and implied that the doctors
would not have contact with their
clients. In a pilot: project the dac-

tor is very. involved ‘and infact.

midwifery. service, perhaps . they

the Lower. Mainland — through

will have to bridge the creek. Trees
must be cut down,
