Learning about fitness The West Vancouver Parks and _ Recreation Department is co-ordinating that Municipality's involve- ment in National Physical Activity Week. Although the National Program isn't scheduled to begin until May 15 West Vancouver will beat the rush by beginning their week of activities on Satur- day May 14 will a three hour fitness Aerobothon. The Aerobothon will be continuous, non-stop fitness class conducted by the fitness instruction corps of the Recreation Department. Everyone in the community will be welcome to take part in the whole class (if physically possible) or as lit- tle as they wish. A Swim Social for those who take part in the aerobothon will be held in the West Van- couver Aquatic Centre on the Saturday evening. Sunday May 15 will be the major day of events for the entire week. Leading off the day will be the Strut for Seniors, a walk, jog, cycle or run for one to six miles for all ages. The registration fee for this event goes toward improvements and equip- ment for the Seniors Activity Centre. Following the run a pancake breakfast will be served to all those involved in the Strut (including im registration fee) At this poimt the day moves into what is known nationally as the Fit- nic. A Fitnic is a senes of physical activities for the en- tire family centered around the family picnic. Families will be invited to bring their lunches and take part in games, races and activities for everyone. Two of the main features of the Fitnic will be a coed four per side Volleybali Tournament with divisions for open ages, and High School students: and a Tricycle Race contest by representatives from various departments within the municipal hall. The Fitnic events should last until ap- proximately 3:00 p.m. Tuesday May 17 will be aaa HE DAY TO MAKE YOUR MARK N PROVINCIAL POLITICS. Polling for the PROVINCIAL GENERAL ELECTION will be held MAY 5, from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.* Take your “You are Registered” card with you to the polling station.
