NV City strata policy

dealt double blow

North Vancouver City's
blanket policy of rejecting
strata conversions while the
rental vacancy rate is below
three per cent took a double
beating at Monday night's
counci meeting.

City council reversed an
earhet decision and gave
tentative approval to the
conversion of a co-op
building, and council failed
to uphold the rejection of
another application based on
the vacancy rate policy.

The exception was made
because the conversion
concerns 39 co-op units and
not rental units, and will
only be granted if the
building 1s made to comply

The vacancy rate policy
took another beating later in
the evening when a motion

Based on the policy, a
recommendation had been
made to reject a.  Strala
conversion request for 1535
St.George’s Avenue.

The conversion request
was made because the
owners of the building failed
to apply for straufication
before the building was
occupied.

Council will reconsider
this subject at a later
meeting when al} council
members are present.
