I attended the public | ’
meeting for Cove Cliff
School. , °

I was appalled by the fact
that school board chairman
Don Burbidge admitted that
he didn’t have all the facts.
However, he was able to
_present the information that
the school board wanted us
to hear. a

I was pleased to see that

_ new trustee David Craig had
done his homework. He was
able to present the missing” -
facts from his portion in the. -
audience. ook

' The school board should |
not tum a public meeting .
into a propaganda session, ~
but-should give a balanced
presentation.

Perhaps A.C. Turner
could use his expertise on
Schoolboard workings to
inform us from where the
time for French instruction _
will be taken, if not from the
Core Subjects.

In addition to French,
Physical Education and
Music are to be compulsory
daily subjects in our schools.
This will be one and a half
hours Jess each day for
Math, English, Science and ©
the other Core subjects.

When the time required ;
for Swimming, Skating, . -
Skiing, Puppet Shows, Field
Trips and Outdoor School 4s
taken into account, precious
litle will remain.

Is it any wonder that
enrolment at Private Schools
increases while that at Public
Schools decreases?
