The United Nations General Assembly has desig- nated 1999 as a worldwide celebration of the contribu- tion older people have made to their community, and the skills we continue to use as we grow older. There is also a special emphasis on intergencra- tional activities —things we do with younger people that will increase awareness of the special talents we all possess.
