Stylish thieves nick flashy frames

Hit hurts Lonsdale businessman

THEY'RE the kind of
swanky glasses you'd
sce pasted to the faces
of sleek young things
named Gina and hunks
called Marcello.

To make a long story
short, Ocean Optical dispens-
ing optician Lee Morrison is
outa pair of Cazal 963 men’s
sunglasses and a pair of Cazal

Morrison believes two dif
ferent groups of people came
into his Central Lonsdale store
while he was working by him-

He was busy. They saw,
they snatched, they scrammed,

“Ir was a real wake- up call
for me,” Morrison said. He
spent some money on
improved security. “I put up a

front so that you can’t reach

“It's one step forward, two
steps back, Not only do I ‘have
to still pay for these things —
and they're high-end — but
Ive got to upgrade all the
security and hire staff. 1 try to
get ahead and this drives me
back. Long: teria it will be
OK, but I wasn’t anticipating
these kinds of expenses this

Right now he wants people
to keep an eye our for the
flashy frames. They’re worth
hundreds of dollars each —
that’s before lenses.

“You can’t miss ‘em, not in
a million,” he said.

The missing men’s frame
color is a mottled olive-
brown. The women’s frame is
triple-plated = 18-carat gold
with clear crystal and. topaz
Stones.

“You want to trust people,
but the reality today is that
people are going to lift it if
they can, They’re (thieves)
kind of ike pack rats. If it’s
shiny, they want to grab it,”
said Morrison.
