KEYLA Ohs finally
feels like she belongs.
Standing on the ice in that
split second of quiet that
defines the end of a particu-
larly rousing skating routine,
Ohs could rightly say she
belongs in the company of
Canada’s best women skaters.
After winning the junior
nationals four years ago as a
relative unknown — and
undeveloped — skater, Ohs
was thrust into the: adult

Ohs stood fifth after
Thursday's short program and
moved up to fourth on the
strength of Saturday’s free
program.

“I thought she did really
well, she did a strong perfor-
mance — artistically,” Ohs?
coach Linda Brauckmann said
following the competition.
“She looked like she was in
command of the ice.”

there the crowd really put me

Figure Skating Hall of Fame
last Friday, so for the veteran
coach it was 2 busy week.

Next for Ohs is some well
earned rest and a re-evalua-
tion of a foot injury that has
caused her discomfort for the
past month.
