Subdivision raises traffic Safety fears Three-phase housing development proposed for Sunset Beach area CONCERNS ABOUT traffic safety and retention of old- growth trees dominated a pub- lic information meeting held Tuesday at West Vancouver's Gleneagles Golf and Country Club by the developer of the Sunset Highlands residential development. By Gien Anwick Contributing Writer Ron Lanthier of Aldamar Management Inc., the management company looking after the project, pledged to work with members of the Sunset Point Ratepayers’ Association to alleviate fears about increased car traffic, poorer high- way access and possible soil insta- bility problems caused by the cut- ting of trees at the site. Lanthier and his group have pro- posed a three-phase luxury housing development on property above the Sea to Sky Highway, about four kilometres (2.5 mi.) past Horseshoe Bay near Sunset Beach. The first phase of the develop- ment, worth above $28 million, is currently going through the approval process at West Vancou- ver District hall. It calls for a 39-acre mountain- side parcel to be subdivided into 36 separate, well-treed lots. The development’s initial stage, involving the northernmost triangle of the property, starts a few hun- dred yards from Disbrow Falls and runs to Shake Creek, It is directly across the highway from the current Ansell Place sub- division. Peggy Hodgins North Vancouver f personally have been going down the list of things you should do for earthquake preparation. An earthquake might not happen, but then again it might. THE LOWER Mainland is apparently overdue for a major earthquake. Local rescue officials have said that emergency response will likely fall short of what will be needed after the shaking stops. For that reason, resi- dents are asked to store supplies for at least three days of self-sufficiency.
