Kids’ Stuff is a free service provided for
non-profit groups. Submission requests
should be made on an official What's
Going On form, which is available at recep-
tion, and received by the News at feast onc
week prior to the event. The News endeav-
ors to ensure items appear in the paper at
least once before the event takes place, but
space constraints may limit the number of
submissions printed. For guaranteed publi-

THE FOLLOWING is a selection
of volunteer opportunities available
through North Shore Community
Services (NSCS):

One-on-one friends are needed
to act as role models and offer sup-
port to young women ages seven to
17. Volunteers spend about five
hours per week in positive social
and recreational activities.

Office assistant/receptionist is
needed by a North Shore Agency.
Some experience is necessary
including typing. Some training
will be provided. Hours are flexible
during weekdays.

Servers for a meal program for
seniors and handicapped people are
needed. Volunteers help set up,

Junior Forest Wardens. Outdoor-ori-
ented youth club for ages 10-18; boys &
girls welcome. Forestry, ecology, out-

serve the meal and take down after-
wards. There is time to visit with
participants in the three- to four-
hour shift.

A sports organization for peo-
ple in wheelchairs is looking for
people to help with wheelchair soc-
cer. Team managers, coaches and
general assistants are needed.

Library assistants are needed
to help catalogue and maintain a
specialized in-house collection.
Some knowledge of cataloguing
and of computer database entry
would be helpful. Hours are day-
time and flexible.
