Centennial hosts Celtic band

“HAVING ARRIVED. on these
shores. from Ireland in 1975, the
six members of the Celtic folk
band Killarney have gone on to
... record four albums, land their own
CBC-TV series and build up a
strong following on the North
Shore as a regular act at the Inter-
national Plaza.

They return to the North Shore,
Sunday, Nov. 28, with a show, at
North Van’s Centennial Theatre
. with a pertion of the proceeds

going to the CKNW Orphan's
Fund.

Though band members could
hardly have known at the time, the
six-week engagement at Van-
couver's Blarney Stone pub, which
brought them here in the first
place, became a launch pad.

Killarney is presently considered
one of the top folk acts in Canada
and appears at festivals and con-
ferences throughout the country.
