We are not, after all, talking the Champs Elysees here, Monsewer Pierre. ~ . But we are also not talking your average beanery here either,Mr. Cynic. ; For Pierre’s is all about small el- egances and stylish details in a world where small and fine is far _ too often devoured by big and boorish. The Pierre of Pierre’s Restaurant de Quartier is not after the sudden dining windfall envisioned by less seasoned restaurateurs. Richoz, instead, is after a re- spectability of place and a quality of cuisine that is far more fulfilling. And the residents of the area appreciate that effort and that phi- losophy. For dining out now is a much more sophisticated pursuit than it was even five years ago. So while 1209 has sent less tal- ented and less dedicated tenants packing, Pierre’s endures. Its informal French bistro at- mosphere is matched nowhere else on Lonsdale, North Van- couver City’s characterless four- lane main drag. \ts simple, artfully presented food is a delightful surprise to the first-time patron and a source of recurrent gastronomic pleasure for the loyal Pierreophile. Pierre’s wine list ($19 to $30) is small, as would be expected at a 35-seat restaurant, It also might be somewhat pricey for the average casual diner. 1495 926-4585 Bellevue $26-$115. ; PIERRE’S PLEASE ...
