Lights festival LIGHTING of the Christmas trees and unveiling of the nativity scene begins this year's Second Annual Peppi's Festival of Lights. Featuring 70 trees, cach in- dividually decorated by local businesses and sponsors, the festival reflects the Christmas spirit and brings the magic of Christmas to the shores and waters at Duridarave beach. The lighting ceremony takes place today at 4 p.m., where the switch will be thrown and the Nativity scene will be unveiled. An addition to this year’s fes- lival, the scene is carved by North Vancouver wood sculptor Frank Carius. The festival of lights runs from new until Jan. 8. Visitors will be able to fill out a ballot and vote for their favorite tree. Donation proceeds from the tree balloting will go to Canuck Place, a hospice for children.
