FRESH STp Boil 4 cups sugar ty, Lg with 4 cups cold water until sugar dissolves. Boil 1 minute more. Cool completely, bottle, and chill. To prepare the sorbet, combine 2 cups chilled syrup with 2 cups puréed fresh strawberries (or other berry) and 1 Tbl. fresh lemon juice. Pour into ice cream maker and freeze as directed. Makes | generous quart. Ina tall glass pitcher, combine 1 cup fresh iemon juice with 2/3 to | cup berry sugar (to taste). Stir to dissolve sugar — set aside 15 minutes. Add 1 tray ice cubes and 4 cups cold water or chilled club soda (for a fizzier version). Stir to combine. Add lots of lemon slices and mint sprigs. Serve over ice in tall cooler glasses. Serves 6.
