repair of the building's foundation
and roof.

“The exterior will stay exactly
as is,” he said.

Consulting curator Susan
Green, who attended Sunday’s
opening, predicted that the Ger-
trude Lawson House would house
a valuable museum and archives
collection.

There are already about 10,000
photographs in the archives’ col-
lection, so the society will be on
the look-out for three-dimensional
objects for display.

“They don't have to be in
perfect condition — just repre-
sentative of daily tife,’’ said
Green.

The municipality already has an
archivist, Laura Coles, but Green
said a permanent curator will also
be essential in the future.

Additional amalgamation of the
archival collection will be looked
after by former municipal staffer
Rupert Harrison, who has been
operating out of cramped quarters
at municipal! hall.
