don’t know yet whether he'll let the hedge grow in or not. Time will tell. But there couldn't be another neighbor like one-of-a- kind, Himie Koshevoy!... eee Speaking of Santa Claus, big Bob Dawson has recently left his posi- tion as promotions man for 1040 KICKS radio. One of the reasons was that he has so many radio and television commercials to do for B.C. Jeep & Eagle aeelers, the Vancouver Sun as well as many others. He’s recently back from a week in the sun of San Francisco, which he says is recovering nicely from that dreadful earthquake. Then he had to gear up for his yearly per- formances as Santa Claus. He not only sounds like Jolly Old St. Nick as he did on Rafe Mair’s morning program on CKNW last week, he looks like him! The New Year looks very promising for Mr. Dawson... Hollywood's Glenn Close has her eyes on the work of local artist David jackson. And speaking of New Year's and New Year's Eve, there may be snow on the roof, but there’s still lots of heat in the chimney ... or something like that. About seven years ago, founder and current president of Calona Wines, Herb Capozzi, wore the Lonsdale Court 1433 Lonsdale Ave., North Van. 980-7655 Open: 10-6pm daily 10-9pm Thurs. & Fri. 10-6pm Sunday mantle of one of the town’s leading Lotharios with fair sex. Then he met the tall and gorgeous Eller. Brown and his life changed forever! After a whirlwind courtship, they were married in a quiet ceremony up in snowy Whistler, and Herb’s been chasing her ever since! Ellen is so marvellously in- dependent! She skis everywhere and she goes on cruises a lot, too! Last year at this very time, the couple celebrated their fifth wed- ding anniversary. It was on New Year's Eve and Herb had it plan- ned to the most minute detail. He'd phoned ahead to the Keg Boathouse at Horseshoe Bay and arranged a gourmet dinner for two. Then when he and Ellen pulled up into the Keg parking lot in their huge motor home, dinner was personally delivered and served to them by Keg waiters, who stuck around just long enough to sing “Happy Anniver- sary!” And that’s how the last of the red-hot swingers spent his New Year's Eve — sitting in a Keg park- ing lot at Horseshoe Bay in a big motor home, dining on steak and baked potatoes ... by candlelight! Just a nice happy romantic twosome! In fact, it was so romantic, that, according to my sources, Herb had a lawyer’s agreement drawn up to extend the marriage for three more years! Lucky Ellen! What a unique way to start iast year! And it must be working because today it's happy sixth wedding anniversary! This year they‘re celebrating the big day during a skiing vacation down south... eee Meanwhile his nephew, Pat Capozzi, son of Joe, and general manager of Panabode, is going to get hitched again! His bride-to-be is the lovely johni deGzoot of the Sample Room In Yaletown in downtown Vancouver. Pat tells me that they have both been so busy lately that they haven’t yet set an exact date. But it will be a simple family wed- ding somewhere around the end of January! Our heartiest con- gratulations go out to you both! eee NORTH & WEST VANCOUVER’ EXCLUSIVE SOUTH. David’s been very busy at his craft. He's currently working on a commission for MacBlo for their new Research Facility, as well as a new art piece for Hollywood ac- tress and Academy Award winner Glenn Close. While Glenn was in Vancouver shooting ‘Immediate Family” with James Woods, she found what she thought was the perfect work of art. It was an authentic worry stick but the owner valued it so much that she wouldn’t sell. So Glenn ordered her own personal treasure. Unfortunately we didn’t get to wish the compliments of the season to owner Joe Verdicchio because he was ill with the flu that night but son, Robert, was very busy bustling about making sure everything was on track... Also chatted with millionaire Jimmy Pattison who was there dining with his mother and the rest of the Pattison clan. It’s one of }.P.’s favorite dining spots. And isn’t his decorated mansion getting a lot of attention from the tourists! You can hardly get past the traffic jamt... Also spotted P.R.’s Donna and Bill Greenwell entertaining Bill's mother at dinner. And it was wonderful to see and hear the remarkably talented pianist, Al Carmichael, playing everything from Noel Coward to the Beatles. He’s been entertaining at Peppi's for about the past 16 years! Just a lovely evening... Finally, don’t forget that there’s lots of New Year's Eve parties on tonight, including David Frinton’s bash zt the Trade and Convention Centre. The North Shore Studios party with Colin James has been moved across the water, and will be amalgamated with the Trade and Convention Centre soiree ... or you can catch WV’‘s Gerry Altman and Fay McMynn’s First Nigh: celebration with a super fireworks display at 6 p.m. Also today is the deadline for applications for Gertie Todd’s Miss Teen Vancouver contest ...
