Hear carols, visit Santa when shopping

EVERY WEDNESDAY between
Nov. 9 and Jan. 11, the Christmas
News/New Year’s News will
publish a weekly shopping guide to
North Shore shopping malls.

If your store is holding special
Christmas events, like a visit from
Santa, or a yearly Christmas sale,
send a written submission in-
cluding appropriate date and time
to Christmas News, c/o the North
Shore News, 1130 Lonsdale Ave.,
North Vancouver, V7M 2H4, or
drop off a press release to the
News office.

New Christmas shopping hours
should also be included in any in-
formation.

Below is a schedule of stores
holding special Christmas events.

The following events will take
place at Park Royal shopping mall
in West Vancouver:

* The Clownuppets, children’s
entertainers, including balloon
animals and puppets will be at the

north mall on Dec. 2 at 1, 4, and 7
p.m.; on Dec. 3 at 11] a.m., l and 3
p.m., and again on Dec. 4 at | and
3 p.m.

© On Dec. 8 The Capilano Chorus
will perform in the south mall at 7
p.m,

© The North West Opera in the
south mall on Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
and the Summer Pops Orchestra in
the north mall at 2.pm.

°* On Dec. 11 the Handel
Christmas Carollers will sing in the
north mall at 2:30 p.m.

© From Dec. 12 to 23 the Strolling
Minstrels will perform from 6:30
0 8:30 p.m.

® On Dec. 13 the Capilano College
Community School will be in the
south mall at 6:30 p.m.

© The Capilano Chorus will per-
form again on Dec. 15 in the north
mall at 7 p.m. The Quatro Voici

Greet carol ships

THE CITY and District of North
Vancouver are sponsoring two
special evenings this holiday season
to greet the carol ships.

Thurs. Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., choirs
will sing Christmas carols, bands
will play and Santa will pay a visit
to Waterfront Park, 200 W.
Esplanade, North Vancouver.

On Sat. Dec. 17, choirs and

bonfires greet the ships at Cates
Park from 8:15 to 9 p.m., and at
Panorama Park from 9 to 9:30
p.m., rain or shine.

Caro! sheets will be provided
and donations of non-perishable
goods will go to the Christmas
Bureau. The public is asked to
bring a flashlight.

® On Dec. 18 Quatro Voici per-
forms in the north and south malls
from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The North
Shore Festival Singers will be in
the south mall at 2 p.m.

© On Dec. 21 Quatro Voici per-
forms again in the north and south
malls from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

© Christmas carols will be sung at
Park Royal from Dec. 5 to 9
(Monday to Friday) and from Dec.
12 to 16.

On Dec. 3, at 9 a.m., take the kids
to have breakfast with Santa at
Lonsdale Quay. Enjoy a cooked
breakfast and a program of enter-
tainment. Robi the Clown, face
painters, Jeff Smyth, singer Joey
Hanlon and Ron Smith's brass
band will perform. Cost is $4.99
per person. Photos with Santa are
$3.99.
