A recently released independent study of the B.C. car insurance system discovered that the majority of British Columbians favor the dismantling of ICBC. Of those polled, only 22 per cent preferred an ICBC monopoly of all auto insurance. Thirty-three per cent favored 2 competitive situation with both ICBC and the private sector competing, and a whopping 45 per cent wanted the elimination of ICBC altogether. ICBC officials may be correct in their assumption that BCAITF is out to dismantle the system for its own benefit. But the corporation has a big job ahead con- vincing the public of that, as the numbers testify. (CBC cannot ignore the tremendous disenchantment British Columbians feel with the corporation.
