FOLKFEST EVENTS NV celebrates NORTH Vancouver’s Folkfest ’84 promises to be a week Of excitement, entertainment, activity and fun for all. Lonsdale will be bustling with parades, dancers, singers, contests, craft fairs and bargains. So come and enjoy the varied cultural events, and remember, programs. Folkfest entertainment begins Saturday, June 23 and carries on until Friday, June 29, with programs at North Vancouver Centennial Theatre at 23rd and Lonsdale. Curtain time Saturday is 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. every other night. Special entertainment for the week includes dancing from Scottish, Japanese, Indian, Spanish, Polish, Israeli and Greek groups; styles include ballet, belly, modern and gymnastic; and music includes folk and chorus singing and bands. Starting early, an Arts and Crafts Fair will be held for Folkfest from June 20 to 30 (excluding June 24) for artists, potters and hobbyists to enter their work at the Civic Centre, 14th and Lonsdale. A bike decorating contest begins at 9:30 a.m. at Vic- toria Park, prior to the Canada Week Folkfest Parade. Bikes will be judge for originality, color and creativity. Fourth Annual Flea Market will be held at the Rec. Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Non-commercial vendors can use a table for $10, and prospective buyers are admitted free. A Family Fun Run starts at 10:15 a.m. from the Rec. Centre, for five kilometres with prizes in different categories. There will be free swimming at the Rec.
