dominium project presented
last week by International
Land Corporation isn’t quite
what it sounds, —

ILC's original plan to build
24 luxury strata title units on
the marina site was flatly
turned down last October by
West Van council after
protests, from the biggest
meeting on a- development
proposal in municipal
memory. Now, ILC has
returned with a revised plan
for jist 13 half million dollar
pads and the claim by ILC
project manager Roger
Montgomery that it “can
satisfy all the legitimate
complaints of the boaters”,

It doesn’s look quite that
way from Mr. Montgomery's
latest map. Don Malcolm's

existing 2'4-acre:marina site

is shown reduced to less than

_ half an acre - about 180 ft.

of the water. There's no
provision for an adequately
sized workshop. Malcolm's
huge lift (capable of han-

its proposed new location is
apparently too shallow for
anything bigger than 26-
footers and, the. bottom
being solid rock, can’t even
be dredges. Finally, of
course, all but a handful of
the present 70-odd moorages
would disappear, fogether
with 90 per cent of the other
services the marina now
provides for the public.

Planning Commission - and
the Advisory Design Panel
for comments, Meanwhile,

hear a. gathering roar.-- and
it isn’t just the roar .of the
surf. I hope Mr.’ Mon-

out a strategy for organizing
the hitherto unorganized
general public. They're now
figuring out ways for the
public to make some
coordinated protest against
the disruption of innocent
businesses and the comfort
of innocent householders,
and they've promised to
unveil their plans at a news
conference this week. They
look like attracting plenty of
interested observers on both
sides of the fence. Stay
