A 29-year old woman is recovering at
Vancouver General Hospital following a
veekend diving accident near Horseshoe Bay.
West Var uver Police received a report of the accident,
via cell phone at }2:45 p.m. on Saturday. A boat was trans-
’ porting the diver to Horseshoe Bay. Those aboard asked for
an ambulance. The woman was diving with friends off
Bowyer Island when she experienced breathing difficulties.
When she reached the mainland she was immediately
transferred to Vancouver General, where she was placed in a
hyperbaric chamber. The chamber is uften used to oxygenate
divers suffering from a condition known as “ue bends.”
When an ascent is too rapid, the diver’s blood can become
filled with nitrogen bubbles. The woman remains in critical
bur stable condition. Squamish RCMP are investigating, th:
incident.

THE death of a man found in Horseshoe Bay at
the weekend is being treated as suspicious by West
Vancouver police.

The man’s body was discovered by a focal resident at around
3 p.m. Saturday in a bushy area behind a boat docked at a

Sewell’s Marina lot.
The deceased was 34 vears old and 37217 (E80 cm.) in

He hed long black hair in a ponytail, and a biack beard and
moustache.

The man wore a T-shirt with cartoons and the word
“fofino” on the front, green work pants, a black fisherman's hat
with car flaps and a chin strap, and black rubber boots.

An autopsy revealed he was a heavy smoker and drinker.
